This workshop supports universities in developing a university-specific or team-specific leadership policy that is tailored to the diverse needs and values of your organisation or organisational unit. Together, we will develop leadership principles that focus on trusting collaboration, respectful communication, and the development of people to build satisfaction, commitment, and loyalty. If desired, the result can be a code of conduct that serves as a management compass for all involved.

We offer the ‘Team Coaching’ workshop with the aim of improving collaboration and communication within a team. Depending on the occasion, the focus can be on resolving conflicts, optimising work processes or realigning the team. By identifying the positive aspects of the team, we create a basis for targeted work on improvements and specific solutions. In addition, agreements are usually made to ensure that the results of the team coaching are reliably transferred to the team’s daily work.

Whether it’s a cyber attack, a shooting spree or a financial scandal, Germany’s universities are often inadequately prepared for crises. However, crisis management is one of the greatest challenges for universities due to their special organisational structure. Particularly in serious crises, their managers have to make numerous decisions under great time pressure, leaving little time for coordination in the relevant committees or with supervisory authorities. This can lead to serious mistakes, which in turn can lead to a loss of confidence in management and even sanctions. In cooperation with the Institute for Conflict and Crisis Management (IKKM), we offer a workshop specially developed for universities. This enables university managers to acquire emergency skills.

Academics face many situations in which they need to negotiate. Appointment and recruitment procedures, the transfer of tasks, third-party funding projects with companies, procurement or the negotiation of personal allowances, to name but a few. In higher education and research, the negotiating parties and networks are often the same for many years, and it helps to get on well with each other. But how can this be achieved when you represent fundamentally different positions and interests? CHE Consult offers a workshop that prepares academics for difficult negotiation situations. You will acquire the basics for using the most important negotiation tactics and learn goal-oriented approaches for negotiations with more experienced and seemingly more powerful partners.

Demographic change, declining numbers of first-year students, changing subject preferences, sometimes high dropout rates and changing labour market requirements are challenging more and more universities. In order to remain competitive and fit for the future, they need to review their course offerings, target some courses for analysis and develop them further, taking into account internal and external factors. In this workshop we will show you which aspects need to be considered in the (further) development of study programmes, which options can be discussed and which approaches are suitable.

Where do first-year students come from to study at universities in your region? What are the subject orientations of first-year students and how has this changed in recent years? With which universities does your institution compete? These could be questions you are asking yourself as a manager of a German university or faculty. Our interactive data visualisation tool (DaViT) combines different data sources, evaluates university data in a targeted manner and presents it clearly. This enables evidence-based decision-making for university planning, strategic university management and student marketing. Find out how your university can benefit from access to DaViT in our workshop.

In this workshop we will discuss strategies and success factors that are currently important in universities and colleges when it comes to financing and operating large-scale equipment, laboratories and other research facilities on a long-term basis. The workshop is aimed at people in science and science support areas who are involved in the planning, development and operation of high quality research infrastructure. These are people in the leadership and management of universities, at central and decentralised levels in faculties, departments and institutes. They will be provided with practical advice and opportunities for action in everyday university life.
