Strategic Process Support at HWR Berlin

CHE Consult supported the Berlin School of Economics and Law (HWR Berlin) in further developing its Structural and Development Plan (SDP) to the point of producing a first robust draft. The goal of the project was to structure the strategic engagement process, bring together different perspectives from within the university and its broader context, and establish key foundations for the further elaboration of the SEP.

The consulting focus was on structuring the overall process, facilitating strategic discussions, and synthesizing key content.

After jointly agreeing on the approach, the CHE Consult team conducted and evaluated interviews with internal and external experts as well as other stakeholders. In addition, the consulting team facilitated strategy workshops with the Executive Board, the academic departments, and in cross-university formats to bring together different perspectives and define specific strategic directions.

Based on the insights gained, CHE Consult supported HWR Berlin in developing key foundations for the Structural and Development Plan. These included, among other things, a vision statement, an outline for the SDP, analyses of university-relevant megatrends and future skills, as well as the expert evaluation and commentary on the contributions from the academic departments and the Berlin Professional School.

At the conclusion of the project, HWR Berlin received a series of building blocks that serve as a solid foundation for the university’s internal further development and for the Structural and Development Plan.
