Quality on its own does not create demand

How can higher education institutions attract more prospective students despite offering high-quality degree programmes? This question is addressed in an academic article in the journal “Wissenschaftsmanagement”, to which Senior Consultant Dr Lukasz Hill contributed.

The central thesis is that excellent teaching and attractive degree programmes are important prerequisites, but are not sufficient on their own to generate demand. In light of demographic change, increasing competition and changing information-seeking habits, it is crucial that potential students are even aware of what is on offer. Visibility is therefore far more than just a question of marketing – it is becoming a strategic success factor for universities.

Drawing on experience from higher education consultancy, the article explains how universities can specifically enhance their visibility and translate strategic insights into concrete actions.
